The situation

A gas boiler contractor served a handful of nearby communities and wanted to grow its service area without opening offices or hiring salespeople in each town. Growth required local visibility in every community it could reach, a reputation that travelled with it, and an office process that could handle enquiries from places the crews had not worked before. No single hire covers local search, content, review generation and process design at the same time.

What was done

  • Mapped the communities the crews could realistically serve and built a page and a plan for each
  • Assigned a content specialist to write local service content and a search specialist to structure it
  • Built a review process so every completed job asked for feedback at the right moment
  • Connected enquiries from each community to one dispatch and quoting process in the office
  • Reviewed community-by-community performance monthly and dropped areas that did not produce jobs

What it shows about teams

Expanding a service area is a team problem. Content, local search, reputation and office process each needed an owner, and they had to move together or the enquiries from new towns would have been wasted. This is why we build outsourced departments rather than placing one marketer: the marketing lead, the content and search specialists and the operations lead share one plan and one scorecard, so growth in reach turns into growth in completed jobs.
