Management team for investors
You have bought a business and the seller is leaving. The staff are nervous, the systems are in the seller's head and you are not an operator. Our management team service puts experienced operators from Ali's team into the leadership seats from the day the deal closes: operations, marketing, technology, sales systems and finance alongside your CPA. Ali leads it, and the company keeps running while you decide what the permanent team should be.
What you leave with
A business that kept its customers, staff and cash through the transition, with documented systems and a permanent team plan.
Who it is for
- First time buyers of a BC business who are investors, not operators
- Search funds, family offices and holding companies without an operating bench
- Buyers of a business whose owner was the whole management team
What we deliver
- A first hundred days plan covering people, customers, cash, systems and quick wins
- Interim leadership in the seats the seller vacated
- A scorecard and operating cadence installed in the first quarter
- Documentation of every process and system in the seller's head
- A permanent management team design, hiring plan and handover
How it runs
01Before closing
With your lawyer and CPA, we review the business from an operator's view: who does what, what breaks if the seller leaves.
02Day one
Our operators meet the staff with you, confirm every customer commitment and take the seats. The message is continuity.
03First hundred days
Stabilise, document, install the cadence and scorecard, fix the urgent. Weekly report to you.
04Build the team
We define, hire and onboard permanent leaders and hand over, or stay in fractional seats where the economics are better.
Engagement and fees
Fractional Executive band, $25K to $60K per month for the transition, with a 90 Day Sprint ($80K to $250K) structure for the first hundred days. Growth Partner terms with equity where the fit is right. Valuation and brokerage through Ali's BizSell.ca. Every engagement is scoped after a call and confirmed in writing. See consultations and fees.
Why acquisitions fail in the first year
Buyers model the numbers and underestimate the operator, who is usually the seller. In owner managed companies the seller is the dispatcher, the top salesperson and the only one who knows the pricing. When they leave, those functions leave with them unless someone takes each seat on day one. Staff read uncertainty quickly and the best ones leave first.
A management team that arrives with the deal protects what you paid for while you learn the business, and gives the staff a reason to stay.
What the first hundred days protect
People first: every employee meets the new leadership in the first days and knows what will not change. Customers second: every commitment is confirmed and the top accounts get a call. Cash third: a thirteen week forecast is running within weeks, built with your CPA. Systems fourth: everything in the seller's head is written down before it is forgotten. Quick wins last, chosen because they are visible and low risk.
We report to you weekly in plain language. You decide, we operate.
What to prepare and common mistakes
Share the deal documents, the seller's transition commitments, the financial statements and your own view of why you bought the business. Introduce us to your lawyer and CPA early, because our plan has to fit the deal they built.
The common mistake is changing things in the first month to show ownership, which unsettles staff and customers at once. The second is assuming the seller's handover period will transfer knowledge on its own. It will not, which is why documentation is a day one task.
Questions about this service
Can you be involved before we buy?
Yes. We review the business from an operator's point of view alongside your lawyer and CPA, which is different from financial due diligence, and we tell you what depends on the seller.
How long do you stay?
Most transitions run three to twelve months, until permanent leaders are hired and onboarded. Some investors keep fractional seats longer. The end point is agreed in writing before day one.
Do you take equity?
We can. Growth Partner terms with equity, revenue share or a hybrid retainer plus bonus are available where demand is proven. Any equity is documented by your lawyer and registered advisers.
What about the existing managers?
They are usually the key to the transition and we treat them that way. Our operators work with them, not above them, and often the permanent leadership comes from inside.
Tell us which seat is empty.
A 30-minute call with Ali about the business and the people running it. You leave knowing which role to fill first and whether fractional, outsourced or a hire is the right answer, whether or not we work together.
